Two children killed...

I told my mother-in-law I couldn't imagine myself standing there screaming, "My baby! My baby!" Every time I read or hear something like this, I try to imagine just what the parent did. How exactly did she try to free her children? How did it get so bad that she had to back away? I would risk getting badly burnt or dying to save Landon from something like that. Or...at least I think I would. What if we all carried scissors in our cars? Would we be able to free them faster that way? I just don't understand this story at all. It makes me incredibly sad.
